The following is my floor cleaner for linoleum, laminate, and sealed tile floor. This cleaner was born out of a happy accident and the tragic death of my Swifter Wet Jet. I had followed a pin on Pinterest on how to hack the Wet Jet’s solution container so I decided to buy one. I had been holding out because I did not like the idea of one-use solution bottles, that seemed as responsible as the one-time use water bottles. Also, the cost of those bottles was crazy when I was trying to save money. So, I bought the Swifter Wet Jet with a coupon and went home with the knowledge I was going to be able to hack the solution cartridge.
This hack was a bust for me. There ended up being a lot of corrosion that happened on the internal parts of the Wet Jet and it stopped working. Even after cleaning it as well as I could internally and externally, I was left with a Swifter, sans Wet Jet. I had already bought really nice reusable pads for this and did not want to add to the landfill issue, so I kept it and use a floor cleaner I like in a spray bottle. This cleaning formula could be used with a traditional mop, but I like the ease of not having to deal with a bucket or a soppy mop.
The recipe for this uses the vinegar base of the multipurpose cleaner that I make. This saves space under my sink because the base is used in both the multipurpose cleaner and my floor cleaner and cabinet space is always a premium. It also keeps the fragrance profile of my home the same so that there are no conflicting fragrances. Due to the potency of the large batch steeping I use a 3:1 ratio of water to base. This proves quite effective in cleaning the floors without giving me or my cat any breathing difficulties or other ill side effects.
Floor Cleaner

Large Batch

- Let steep and strain off solution as needed to be mixed with water
Spray and Swifter. It’s really that easy.
